The International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science (HOPOS)
will hold its twelfth international congress
in Groningen, the Netherlands,on 9-12 July 2018.
The conference is open to scholarly work on the history of philosophy
of science from any disciplinary perspective.
HOPOS, the International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science, is devoted to promoting serious, scholarly research on the history of the philosophy of science. We construe this subject broadly, to include topics in the history of related disciplines and in all historical periods, studied through diverse methodologies. We aim to promote historical work in a variety of ways, but especially through encouraging exchange among scholars through meetings, publications, and electronic media.
During the week before HOPOS (July 3-6), the Groningen Centre for Medieval and Early Modern Thought organizes a Summer School on "The Challenge of Natural Teleology: Final Causes from Aristotle to Darwin".
The summer school is open to scholars in different HOPOS-related fields and at different stages of their career. The call for papers for presentations at the summer school is open until May 1, the registration for simple attendance is open until June 1. Housing service is available.
